I am directed by the Marquess of Lansdowne to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 11th (10th) instant, urging that the Chinese Government should be reminded of their obligations under Article II of the Anglo-Chinese Commercial Treaty of 1902 to provide for a uniform national coinage.

I am to state, for the information of the Liverpool (Glasgow) Chamber of Commerce, that the matter is under consideration in consultation with the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury.
